A Pat on the Back – don’t beat up on yourself

New day, new beginnings. Every day is like we are born again. We start a new life from scratch. Just knowing this gives us a feeling of excitement. The reason for this excitement is that we don’t have to beat ourselves up about what we did or didn’t do yesterday.

Yesterday is over, and there is nothing you can do to change it. You could make amends today for what you did yesterday. You can commit to being focused, diligent, clear, and decisive of the choices you make and the tasks and chores you get to accomplish today.

Whatever doesn’t get done today, you can move it to tomorrow and start afresh with a new mindset. The goal is to do your best today, now, all day, and be able to go to bed at night content that you did your best and accomplished something, no matter how big or small.

There is tremendous satisfaction when you can check an item off of your to-do list at the end of the day. That one item is enough to celebrate. Knowing you made a choice to get it done and did it. That is a moment and an important reason to celebrate your accomplishments.

A pat on the back, or a verbal acknowledgment to yourself, is enough to energize you and plant that bug of satisfaction in your mind.  When you go to sleep at night, you look forward to waking up the following morning; you are eager to get your day started because that feeling of significance at the end of the day is worth it every time.

Go ahead, pat yourself on the back, you’ve earned it.
